| Old road next to new road--see that huge gap! |
| Old driveway |
Constant speed limit changes. You have to watch very carefully because they are constantly changing the speed limits! Be careful you don't get a ticket. (Don't say I didn't warn you)
TOO many close calls on getting rear ended. People use to swerve around us when we were trying to get into our driveway. Since the road construction started, they have been scraping out the edge of the road which left steep sides. No more swerving around unless you want to roll your car.
DAILY changes to our approach. Lacey is my road construction updater. She lets me know every day where they have changed our approach. They took it completely out, then gave us the biggest approach on the highway, then moved it down 100 yards, then gave us just a small one, then took it away again, then put up cones with caution tape around it letting us know there was no way we were getting across. No choice but to drive down to the corner, turn around, and come back up on the other side. We have learned to drive on the wrong side of the road and not care about all the stares and honks we get. YA GOTTA DO WHAT YA GOTTA DO. See that huge gap in the picture above? Seems weird to us, but the road fluctuates sooo much. There is huge gaps and other places where it is all level. STRANGE.
AND FINALLY, does anyone have any ideas on what to do to our old driveway?? The State has told us we won't be able to use it anymore and they are moving our driveway down the road and around to the side of our house. SO, I need some ideas badly. How do I turn this into something beautiful? I don't want to plant grass. They are thankfully letting us keep the trees which will help so much as a barrier. I am thinking of doing something with rocks or concrete so if a car slides off the highway they will be stopped by something BEFORE they hit our house.
